The deviously brilliant leader of Cobra has created the Cobra H.I.S.S. Tank, a dangerous weapon that will help him expand his empire. He is prepared for battle in a mask that uses sunlight to power his cybernetic armor. As the showdown with the GIJOE Team begins in the burning desert, he sends an armed H.I.S.S. Tank drone to spy on the team.

Cobra Commander features a new head, but his entire body is the same of that used for the Rise of Cobra Cobra Commander figure. Cobra Commander was released as part of the first wave of Pursuit of Cobra figures.

Cobra Commander came with two black machine guns, a black assault weapon, a black and red jacket, a red and gray gonfalon, a red H.I.S.S. Tank drone with two black treads, and a gray missile, and a black display stand.

Cobra Commander was originally intended to be released as a mail-in figure for the G.I.Joe Rise of Cobra line in early 2010 and was to include different packaging and accessories. The "Mail-In" version of the figure was eventually released in 2011 and was exclusive to the Official G.I. Joe Collectors Club.

G.I.Joe is a highly trained, classified special operations unit composed of men and woman from around the globe. Officially, these warriors don't even exist. Few know the truth that G.I.Joe fights a secret war, as the first and last line of defense against forces that seek to plunge our world into chaos.
